Question: Why train your voice: we all know how to speak!

Answer: People have asked me the value of vocal coaching; after all they can speak! Or perhaps they believe I offer elocution lessons.

In fact I empower people to become even more effective communicators. In our society, we are used to reading visual messages: whether they be pictures, DVDs, TV or body language of individuals. However research by Dr Mehrabian of UCLA has shown that 38% of any message you speak depends upon the quality of our voices. It is significantly more when speaking on the telephone because the listener cannot read your body language or facial expressions.

The most scary figure in the research is that only 7% of the message comes from the actual content.

This research clearly indicates what an impact a good voice can have on communicating with others. When I coach clients, I focus on developing a high quality voice to use in the workplace. This has an impact on their ability to communicate and can lead to promotions, job offers and successful presentations, increased success on the telephone and confidence!
